Wilmington Rotary - Newsletter- The Keyway - The Keyway Archive (Aug 6, 2003)

President Joe called the meeting to order at 12:15pm. Father Don was back amongst us. And he sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and knew all the words. Way to go Father!!! And when President Joe rang the bell, he thanked our Sgt. At Arms, John "Zip" Garrett, for fixing the bell.

We had a smaller than normal group this week. I guess we have a lot of Rotarians on vacation this week.

After eating lunch, President Joe made a few announcements:

He read a thank you note from Ray Fitch - thanking the club for the gift of a Rotary jacket and the receiving of his 50 year pin by the District Governor last week.

First auction meeting is scheduled for August 14th at 6:00pm at John Doherty's office.

Fireside chat for two new members is August 26th at 6:00pm at Donna Wayman's home.

The Board voted at their 8/5/03 Board meeting to donate $1,000.00 to this years Rotoplast Mission for the District.

President Joe will be sending out an e-mail to members about going to Wonderland on September 5th. We need to find out how many members are interested in attending. Check your e-mail for Pres. Joe's message and for all the details.

September 23rd the District will be having a social for new members and potential members. President Joe will be making more announcements in regard to this evening that is planned by the District to help clubs obtain new members. Sounds like a great idea!!

John "Zip" Garrett collected a few fines today from the membership.

And then Dan Wandell won the 50/50 raffle.

We have two more weeks at Rocco's and then back to the Masonic Hall. See you next week at Rocco's!
