Weekly Meeting, April 7, 2004

Okay - I am back!  My computer crashed - I had to get a new one.  And between this being my busy season at the office and being Registrar for the District Assembly, I haven't had one extra minute!  So enough of my excuses!

It is now 9:30pm and I had promised I would get this done before I went home... so here it is!

We had a quiet meeting today that was lacking a bit in members but it was still a good meeting.  Tuesday was the monthly board meeting so President Joe ran a business meeting today.

Some of the upcoming dates that you will want to mark down are:

April 12th there will be a fireside chat at Donna's house for our two incoming members.  The members will be inducted on April 21st.

April 14th:  Remember the meeting will be held as a joint meeting with North Reading at the Hillview Country Club.  They have an FBI person coming to speak on counter terrorism.  Should be an interesting meeting.  President Joe has a sign up sheet.  But even if you didn't sign up - still attend.

May 5th the plans are underway for our annual joint meeting with the Interact Club.  More information will be forthcoming but I am sure we will be at the High School cafeteria as we usually are for an evening meeting instead of our usual luncheon meeting.

May 8th will be Rotary Park Clean Up Day.  Roger Lessard is calling for lots of help.  There is lots of work to be done.  They are getting more sandstone to re-do the walkway too for that day.  Also if you haven't spoken to Roger lately... with next year being Wilmington's 275th anniversary - and many of the activities being planned at Rotary Park, the Park Committee has a lot of work they want to get done this year.  Installation of the lights around the walkway and now the board voted to appropriate $5,000 towards more improvements and even the purchase of a gazebo.  This committee is doing a GREAT job and needs your help. So mark the day on your calendar.

May 19th will be our Past President/Paul Harris Day!!!  So did out those phone numbers and lets get some past members back for this meeting too!  Invitations will be out to those that are not members any longer and those we don't see on a steady basis.

May 28th will be our Mystery Night being run by Mr. Mystery Man himself, Jim Ficociello.  See Jim as everything still appears to be a mystery!!!!  More details within the next few weeks.

Jim Peterson is working on setting up a Duck Tour for a Saturday morning in June.  As soon as he has the date he will have a sign up sheet.

President Joe passed out the responses to the survey that was given to club members.  We had 19 members respond and President Joe took a few minutes to go over the survey results.  Overall it appears that everyone is happy with our club.  The one item that showed concern was the lunches - so Marv today spoke for President Elect Jim to get input from the membership of what they like and don't like.

We had a few fines today.  It started with the "Blue Man" group at our head table.  All of those sitting at the head table were wearing blue shirts today.  And then Sgt. At Arms John collected from a few more of us........  And welcome back Faye....you were definitely noticed today - and it cost you!!!

We did not have a raffle!  Last week our Jr. Rotarian won the big pot and she split with Jack Cushing.  Jack bought the tickets for her with the understanding that they would split.  Congratulations to both!  But we didn't have a raffle because someone helped themselves to our raffle tickets in the closet.....  Now who would do that?

Well that is it for now - time to go home!!!!

See you next week!
