50-50 Pot: Bill Doyle tried his luck at finding the 4 of clubs... no winner. Guests and Visiting Rotarians; Mr. & Mrs. William Woods joined us for lunch and to see son Dan inducted into Rotary. Ivy Co, a junior Rotarian from Wilmington High School visited. Ivy is proud to be a junior Rotarion involved in Ryla w/ Jack. On top of her academic achievements she is a cross country runner and plays tennis. She will be attending Penn State soon and wishes to major in psychology. Recognitions and Happy Dollars: * John Garrett apparently had a great time recently becoming more intimately acquainted with Tori Braxton. * Jack Cushing gave a dollar because it has finally stopped snowing. * John Marshall is apparently just happy. * Steve took his two girls skiing and since he is a big fan of the slopes himself he is very happy they enjoyed it as well. * Numerous other members threw in a few bucks as well for a myriad of reasons. Program for the week of 2/4: * Past District Governor Donna Wayman inducted Wilmington Rotary's two newest pledges; Jim Cobb & Dan Woods.
Events to be aware of -- Save the Dates!! **ROTARY DISTRICT 7930 WORLD PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING DINNER- February 5, 2009 at the Danversport Yacht Club-161 Elliot Street Route 62, Danvers, MA 01923. 6:00pm Fellowship 7:00pm Dinner ** District Conference May 1st and 2nd will be held in Salem - more info to come! ** April 11th at Villanova Hall we will be holding our Trivia Competition. There will be prizes, certificates of appreciation and a vacation raffle. Tickets for the vacation raffle will be coming very soon. ALSO - please begin to recruit teams of four for this event. A table of four is only $100.
** 2009 RI Convention in Birmingham, England, 21-24 June 2009.Be a part of history and celebrate the 100th Rotary convention, which will take place in Birmingham, the heart of England!
And now a few announcements * President Bill announced there was Grapenut pudding for desert.
* There is a new GSE experience getting underway in fall of 2009 to London England, see Bill Liston for details.
* Recent Board Meeting Highlights Include; - We released funding of $5,000 to the Wilmington School systems, specifically to improve technology. - We will so be presenting a check to Polio Plus for $1,000. - The chapter’s public relations efforts were discussed and it has been decided we need to tighten our relationships with specifically the school system and some other key community organizations. - The brownies were very good.
* Joe Bilicki presented Joyce Brisbois with a certificate for 17 years of perfect attendance.
* Jack Cushing informed the group that the Rotary Interact program is well... active. They are hosting a senior citizens Valentines Day Party. Their current project which will happen on 3/11; is to put care packages together for the troops overseas.
